openSUSE 10.2 in Khmer

Novell just released its open source operating system called openSUSE 10.2 on Dec, 7th.

With this version we can install and run this operating system in Khmer out of the box.

I was impressed with this great distribution. Not only because all the menus and stuffs are in Khmer but also the KDE 3.5.5 user interface is very good and look a like to Micro$oft Windows Vista user interface.
There are a lot of changes in this release and I wish I have enough time to explore and experience all the functionalities.

I'd like to thank to all people at KhmerOS and people at openSUSE who had made this happen.
This really means a lot to me as well as to those Khmer people who wish to learn and use computer in our mother tongue.

O mortals, what is love?

O mortals, what is love? That binds beyond life on earth?

To all corners, in pair we fly... braving summer and winter, by and by...

Union is bliss, parting is woe, agony is boundless, for a lovelorn soul, sweetheart...

Give me word, trail of clouds drifting forward...

And mountains capped with snow, whither shall my lonesome shadow go?

Phat Jeay Bondol Jet

This is one of my favourite songs by Sin Sisamuth.
Mr. Samuth really knows how to praise the beauty of the girl he loves.
I wish I have 1/10 of his talent so that I will confidentially speak to the girl.

Upon posting this I realize two things.
1. I can learn how to type khmer quickly
2. I am ashamed because I can not spell Khmer correctly. I am more ashamed because as a Khmer I don't have Khmer dictionary in my room ... I think I'd better learn my belove Khmer language again.

Finally, I would like to dedicate this song to all of my friends, blogger friends and 360 friends. Hope you will find this song interesting and hope that you won't call me JIJIKUSAI lolz.

My trip to Osaka

I went to Osaka last week. It was a great time. I spent my first day with Mr. Seserak and have a good chat about almost everything.Well, It was 2 years since our last meet in person.

The second day I went to visit Horyu-ji at Nara with my host family. Horyu-ji is the first Japanese National Treasure to be registered as the World Heritage Site. This was also my second time visiting to Nara. Unfortunately I forgot to take digital camera with me so my host family toke the prictures for me with her non-digital camera and I end up with no picture to post here (;_;) .

Horyu-ji

To be frank I don't like the idea of taking my own picture too much because I am so ugly and I don't know what is the use to take my own picture for.

The third day I went to see Superman Return with my host family. After the movie we had Gyoza for our lunch at a place called Gyoza Stadiom which has all kinds of Gyoza.

Gyoza

The evening of the third day we had a little party at one of my friend's house. 14 people came to the party including Cambodian and Japanese. At the party I had the chance to meet my juniors who live in Osaka. We drank and talked alot.
After midnight people started to divide into small groups. There was sleeping group, card playing group, Karaoke singing group(I was in this group :) ) and computer group. Despite we splitted into small groups we didn't forget to drink our beer hahaha.
Some go back home at 6 am in the morning and some go to bed at 6 am at that same morning.

a small party with friends and juniors

The rest of my staying in Osaka, I spent my time talking with friends, talking with my host family and work around Osaka city.

When I first came to Japan I lived in Osaka for one year studying Japanese language. This trip can be called a good-bye trip to my first memory of Osaka as welll as my first impression of Japan because I will go back to Cambodia next year...

LA RÉPUBLIQUE KHMÈRE

I just finished reading a khmer book which was translated from original title
LA RÉPUBLIQUE KHMÈRE by Mr. Ros Chantrabot.
I feel hurt after reading this book.
The book describes how khmer leaders in that time do everything to grabe power.
In the period of 5 years (1970-1975) they changed the Cabinet many times.
Those politicians never paid attention to the fate of the country. What they care was how to gain more profit.
Corruptions are everywhere. Teachers and sutdents were used by politicians to fullfill their ambition by doing demonstrations again and again.
Except a small amont of politicains and their friends, all khmer people suffered a great unjustic, crimes, and poverty. That made them (the people) hope that Khmer Rouge will liberate them from all of this and that Cambodia will be in peace again.

Because of the war people started fleeing from the rural area into Phnom Penh , the capital city.
The population of this city was 650.000 in 1970 had grown to 3.000.000 in 1975.
From time to time all transportation means had been cutted. Everything became more expensive then the day before.
Even though the salary for public servants has been risen to 300% but people still found it hard to survive.
From August, 1972 to April, 1974 the price for necessary goods are 400% up.
For ordinary families they had only rice with fried vegetable with no meat.
Starting from the end of 1974, everyday rockets had been droped at various targets in the city. Everyday people wounded and die.

Finally,
April, 17th 1975 arrived.
People were happy because they thought that their suffering was over. They could live in peace and prosperity again but that was just a beginning to a greater suffering ...

I wonder for one thing. It is How accurate this book is?

Finally I would like to thank my friend for lending this book to me.

Fly Me to Polaris

I watched a chinese love story yesterday. It is a 1999's movie called Fly Me to Polaris.
Below is my review of the movie.
(Note if you are going to watch the movie please scroll down and watch it first. Don't read my review coz it will spoil the story line. lolz )

Review:
Onion became blind and mute in an accident when he was eight. He lived and worked in a hospitall
and was taking care by a trainee nurse, Autumn.Because Onion is blind and mute, Autumn can
tell him everything about herself.
When they started to feel for each other, Onion died in an accident.
On his way to heaven, Onion was granted a wish that he can came to earth for 5 days but in a different
body and he can not, in any mean, to reveal his identity. He tried his best to make Autumn, who was so
sad because of his death, believe him but he could not convince her.
Finally the night of his fifth day arrived. He wanted to make Autumn happy so he played his Saxophone
and that made Autumn believe that he is Onion.
But fate likes to play joke with man, when Autumn knew the truth it was time for Onion to go back to heaven and never return ...

I like this movie very much. It is a touching one.
And it also remind me of some sayings like:
"No party that never end"
"Life is full of meeting and parting"
CYbehIyemþcRBat´ ???

If you are interesting, you can watch this movie here.

World Cup 2006

World cup came again. 4 years seems to pass like a blink of second.
What team do you think will win the Cup ?
I think Brazil will win it again because they have a lot of super stars!

Well, in Japan They do not live all the matches as in Cambodia, unless you
have Cable TV.Sadly I don't have one so I had to find a way to watch the matches.
Thank god I found a program that enable me to watch world cup online.
It is called TVUPlayer. Here is the screenshot of my Desktop PC (click to enlarge).

If you are on the same boat with me. I think you should give TVUPlayer a try.

Here is the link to download it http://rapidshare.de/files/18992248/TVUPlayer_v1.5.12_ss.zip.html

leave me a comment if you got problem donwloading it :)

New Starting Point

Well, It's been a while that I didn't update my blog.
In fact, I was very busy with my new study year and especially busy in arranging
my next step in life.
In Japan, Spring(April) is the new fiscal year.To everyone here, Spring is the beginning of everything. There are new employees, new students, new home ......
and to me Spring means SAKURA.
When it's getting warm SAKURA start to bloom.
HANAMI
is the Japanese word mean "Flower Viewing". When SAKURA blooms people do HANAMI at the park under the beautiful SAKURA trees enjoy eating and drinking....

Wuxia

In Cambodia there are a lot of Chinese ethnic people living all around the country. (To be frank, even I myself have some chinese blood running in my vein.) That's why you will see chinese temples and some chinese culuter all around Phnom Penh.Even at What Phnom Pagoda which is the symbol of Phnom Phen you will find the status of Thang Chan (the monk in Thang dynasty who traveled to India to copy the Buddha Books).

Since I was a child I like to watch chinese martial art drama very much. The whole drama is full of love, mystery, brotherhood, tricky..... Then one day I had the chance to read chinese martial art novel in Khmer.I must admit that it was really a page turning stuff.I could not control myself and have to read all the five books at once :) . My father also used to tell me that when he was in his twenties he also get lost in this cinese martial art fiction world too.

the cover of Legend of the Condor Heroes

Those chinese martial art things are called Wuxia in chinese. Becasue I can not read chinese and I was eager to read the novels I was end up with some interesting web sites after I google a bit :)

The most famous Wuxia author is Jing Yong. His novels are adapted into movies and dramas and some of his novels have been adapted for many times.
For example his novel named The Return of the Condor Heroes was adapted to drama and was very popular when i was in cambodia. It was called Tep Intri Sena Kla Han in khmer.I still remember my whole family always watch that daram every night.

from chapter 1 of Legend of the Condor Heroes

If you can not read chinese like me and wanna give wuxia a try then the following web sites are the good starting point.

http://www.wuxiapedia.com/ has many novels. All of the novels are translated voluntarily into English by people who interested in Wuxia.I was very impressed when I firstly knew about that. It is a good community sense which people in the community contribute to make the community active. It is not different from people in Open Source software community. I do wish that soon our khmer people will have such community sense.

This forum also have some Wuxia novels translated into English by its member.
Hope that you will enjoy them.

This new method is very simple and won't cost a penny.
